Professional Certificate Programmes

Short, flexible pathways for working professionals

Professional Certificate Programme

The Professional Certificate is a short, focused learning pathway made up of six related modules. It is designed for specific professional needs and offers a flexible alternative to a full degree, especially for working professionals who want structured learning without committing to a long programme.

Each module in the programme carries one course unit/credit. By completing all six modules within a period of roughly 6 to 36 months, participants build a coherent body of specialised knowledge and practical skills that can be applied directly in their roles.

Professional Certificate Programme

The Professional Certificate Programmes are aligned with Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF) Level 6 on the Qualifications Register. This means the award you receive meets formal quality assurance standards and is recognised across sectors in Hong Kong.

After completing a Professional Certificate, graduates will have obtained credits that may be considered towards further study. In relevant CUHK master’s programmes, and under the Graduate School’s Policy on Course and Unit Exemptions for Postgraduate Students, these credits may be eligible for course and unit exemptions, subject to alignment with individual programme requirements.

In practice, this creates a possible pathway: you may first complete a Professional Certificate and then, if later admitted to a master’s degree, apply to have the credits you have earned considered for course and unit exemptions.

Why This Programme?

The Professional Certificate is designed for working professionals who seek intensive but manageable development that fits around full‑time work. Its modular structure and rolling‑intake mode allow you to choose when and how many modules to take, aligning your study schedule with your own commitments. Teaching is led by CUHK Business School faculty and experienced industry practitioners, combining research‑based concepts with current cases so that each module connects directly to real decisions and challenges at work.

Recognised at HKQF Level 6 and linked to potential credit transfer considerations in relevant CUHK master’s degrees (subject to approval), the programme offers both an immediately useful learning experience and a possible pathway that may support your future academic progression.

Note

Each Professional Certificate Programme comprises six modules, with each module corresponding to one course unit/credit. Admission to CUHK master’s programmes and the granting of any course or unit exemptions are subject to the approval of the CUHK Graduate Division of Business Administration and the Graduate School.

Programme List

The Professional Certificate operates on a rolling‑intake basis. Participants may join upcoming intakes subject to application deadlines and programme arrangements.
